Lesson 1 – Started with the case studies gap fill on p21of pack. This links with your HW which is to complete p37 and 38 of the science pack about case studies and longitudinal studies. Psychodynamic packs due in today for marking. If you are away it is up to you to ensure I get to see your pack! The rest of lesson was about Dib’s – which you can now describe and evaluate as evidence of the tri-partite personality structure (ID ego and super ego). All the information you need about Dibs is in your pack.
Lesson 2 Recapped Dibs and then we checked terminology and linked the various elements of the psychodynamic approach together using p30 and 31 of the pack. You did a cut and stick activity looking at gender development according to the psychodynamic approach p32 and 33. Because we cut up p33 I gave you an additional sheet to replace p34, this required you to summarise and evaluate both of the case studies. Summary blank grid for Hans & Dibs
It is time to start considering what your key issue will be – choose from the list on the cover page on your pack. Start researching as you will need to write a short essay on the topic of your choice. Please email it to me before half term commences. You will find some additional information on p43-45 of your pack – there is also a planning sheet to help you. Remember to look at the resources on I Learn as well.
Lesson 3 – Finishing off the psychodynamic pack. We looked at gender development and practiced some exam questions (all in the pack). Remember ‘science’ pack required next week and key issues essay to write 🙂
Lesson 1 – We started with a domino activity which checked your understanding of the section of the text book set for HW reading!!!
We went onto look at the Little Hans case study and Freud’s interpretation of Little Hans fear of horses. Freud Core study
HW: Complete the gap fill on page13 as well as the study template on p14-16, you need to use information from the internet/LRC or I Learn to give you sufficient information
Lesson 2 – White boards and Freud 20 multi choice questions to check understanding of Little Hans case study. We used the packs to do an Exam question (p20) and looked at the mark scheme (p38-39). We then went on to start evaluating Freud’s methodology p23.
Please check your pack it should be completed up to page 20. The only gap should be the evaluation at the bottom of page 18 which we will do next lesson. DO take time to READ AROUND this approach – LRC contains a wealth of excellent resources and you are welcome to borrow my classroom books too.
Lesson 3 Finished off our evaluation of the Little Hans case study by considering it’s strengths and weaknesses using GRAVE and the boxes on p18 of your pack. We checked through the pack from the beginning to ensure that all the parts were completed – remember I will taking in your packs on Monday. You used the glossary in your text book to define the research methods on p22 and you had to think of a strength and weakness for each one. We then looked at th exam question on 38-40 – and you had to try to answer the one on p24. The lesson ended with you looking at, and applying the mark scheme to each others answers.
Axline’s case study of Dibb’s next lesson – read ahead 🙂
Lesson 1 – Introduction to the psychodynamic approach. Packs were handed out along with the course overview of Unit 2. All the materials for today’s lesson can be found on I Learn in the introduction folder. We watched the ‘Bill and Ted freud thingy’ introduction as well as the very odd ‘David’ video – with the red dancing ID and the evil white masked super- ego. You learnt about the iceberg model of mind (conscious/pre/un) and the tripartite structure of personality – the ID Ego and Super ego. REMEMBER these are just Freud’s ideas – you cannot prove it!
HW: Look up definitions in order to complete p 3 and 4 of pack.
Lesson 2 – We learnt about the 5 psycho sexual stages of child development as well as the oedipus and electra complex AND ego defense mechanisms. My intention is to give you an overview of psycho dynamic psychology before we start looking at the case studies.
Lesson 3 – Consolidation lesson. You all need to read p70-75 from your text book for an activity on Monday. This lesson you completed p 6-12 in your packs. This meant you were able to try out some exam questions.
Lesson 1 – completed social evaluation grid The one you have been waiting for 🙂 In today’s lesson we thought about the assessment criteria and the purpose of exams. You had to think about the best and worse case scenarios for the exam tomorrow – clearly you have a bit of time left to improve your worst areas! We had a go at a couple of exam questions which made you consider the approaches and the problems with your survey!! Here is a really good revision power point – ignore the section on observation and correlation though, skip past these to the questionniare section 🙂 research methods revision really good ppt of psych exchange
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE
Lesson 2 – This is a strange period at college as so many of you have exams – this means it is not worth starting anything new as there are too few of you in the class! We are about to start unit 2 and the psychodynamic approach. I would like you all to watch this short film about Freud to give you some background – it will only take 1/2 hour. If you were in lesson 2 this is what we watched.
Film documentary about Freud in 3 parts –
Lesson 1 -‘ Mock’ feedback – silly mistakes and how to read the question etc etc etc. Then we looked at evaluating all the social psychology studies using ‘grave’ Social evaluation grid
HW task – using the same template have a go at evaluating the cognitive studies!
Lesson 2 – We evaluated the cognitive studies using ‘grave’ here is a completed version Cognitivel evaluation grid completed We then looked at the theories we have studied in unit 1 – we evaluated them using CASTLES – here is a summary grid Castles evaluation of all the theories
please ensure that you know the difference between a study and a theory. Ensure you know what ‘evaluate’ means.
